I don't and sometimes I actively hunt redline snipers, if the map doesn't give me much opportunity to assist the team elsewhere.
I agree that there's not much wrong with snipers, although hit detection can be a bit screwy sometimes. I shouldn't be anle to aim at a stationary target with a fully charged shot on my Charge SR and have no damage happen at all.
I would also like a zoom on the scopes so I can improve my headshot rate at long range (one side of the battlefield to the other, across, not redline to redline) and the graphics glith that has players seeming to appear through walls and disappear again can be really annoying.
That said, as long as I keep having fun as a sniper, I'll keep watching you all through my scope.
When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.

Those are the only maps where i do find helpless snipers outside of the redline. I can find good sniping spots on most maps. And that's without using a dropship.
And yeah, I can be helpless at close range, but if I let you get that close, I deserve to die. Or I've run out of ammo and nanohives.

I had three matches where I acted as sniper support for my squad. I was using the Proto Tac sniper because IMHO it's best suited for the ranges I was operating at. Once I had good positioning, I was just mowing down people. Hit detection wasn't an issue at all at those ranges. A proto dude with a Rail Rifle is pinning my squad down? Set up a headshot, double tap, and the guy is no more. It was really fun, I don't think the sniper needs any special treatment, maybe a bit extra damage (a very slight amount, an extra 15-30) How many snipers operate in pc consistently as snipers? How many kick ass proto squads run or want a sniper? How many times have you ever said wooo we won because of our sniper, or we lost because of theirs. Enough said, snipers are useless, I always kick them from my squads. I mean even Kaizuka sniper from Nyain San never snipes, lmao. No idea about PC, I've never played it. Never had the chance to.
Just because we don't get celebrated, or even noticed for what we do, doesn't mean we're useless. I can be a one woman point defense for example, given a good vantage spot. And I'm not all that bothered about personal WP so I'm not going to be spamming uplinks and nanohives or qqing about how few kills I got compared to everyone else. If I can deny 100 points for a counterhack to an enemy, that's more impritant to me than getting 100 points for counterhacking. 25 for an assist is just as good as 50 or 60 for a kill imo.
So what that the team seem to think I didn't do much. I know differently, I find I can affect the outcome morein the hills with a SR than I can at the front with a RR.

No, I 'm a sniper. Plus I didn't say I don't affect the outcome playing a closer game, just that I affect it more as a sniper. In other words, I affect the battle more doing something I'm good at than something I'm not as good at. If you're specced into RR or ScR or whatever else, and you're good at it, obviously you'll be more effective doing that.

The biggest reason snipers are broken is it requires a dropship for you to even be any good at sniping... Because map design is so poor for making competitive FPS maps....
Personally i would be willing to get rid of the whole "DUCK" mechanic where it decreases sway on the rifle. Its a cool concept but it has made the gameplay a snooze fest or a last resort from the redline. I beg to differ, true I usually run with a proto SR, the charge, but I can be just as effective with lower level gear.
I have never even called a dropship, much less flown one. I also have never ridden in one. I usually run to find a position I like and move around the map to find where I may be of more use.
The duck is invaluable as a sniper, personally I'd prefer a prone, because then it would make sense for the rifle to stop swaying completely. If they had that, the could have a little sway at crouched, showing a better position to keep the weapon still, but still not actually being still as your body never stays completely still and that would be amplified by the sway of the scope. And standing up could be as it is now. Unless prone happens though, removing the crouch or decreasing the sway from it, would make the SR much harder to control with any degree of accuracy. And whilst I don't worship at the altar of KDR, I do want to get some kills.
